the swing of things

Ah, nothing like wasting time at work on a Friday afternoon... Seriously, this may become a problem...but it's the best kind yet! My current UVA temp job is better than my last...and I recently discovered that Faulkner was the first "writer in residence" here in 1956. I can imagine him crossing these green lawns by the buildings Jefferson designed...and it doesn't feel so bad to be here after all.

UVA . . . as in Virginia . . . as in you're no longer in Boston (bad move there)? I'm in Durham, NC, so you can't be too far from here I guess.

Really, I'm just interested to see the comment that Missy withdrew. Only people in Washington WITHDRAW statements.

Yes, I'm in VA. It's a long, boring story...but I'm planning on leaving again next September (for the UK) so it's not all bad. And I'm obviously still my vagabond gypsy self!

I think Missy wound up moving her comment to an actual post ("bustling about")--so I don't think we're missing out on anything.

So good to hear from you, Ryan! You haven't been here an hour and I'm grinning already...

People in Washington also "Edit" their statements. It's on the only place in the world where you can say one thing and something entirely different ends up in the Congressional Record. Not that I would know about that--my job CERTAINLY doesn't involve, um, editing floor speeches after they are spoken...
